An Ode to Womankind

(To be continued)

My womanhood is a great gift the Most High gave me, for which I am thankful each day.

I am a mystery to be unwrapped.

I am a treasure trove to be discovered.

Relentless like a blood-bent shark I pursue the purpose which will have me fulfill  my dreams and destiny in this life.

Will you partner with me?
Because I will not compromise my worth.

My antennae are attuned to the Most High.
So that when they come with lies, toxic masculinity, false narratives of good femininity…..

When they pull  me to either be defined by my sexuality or to deny it completely…..

To flaunt my sensuality as though it is not sacred. Or to shrink from it ashamed, as though it is not Holy……

To choose between my brilliant capacity for thought, reasoning and arguments and my unmatched ability to empathise, feel and access my emotions…..

To drink of  springs from the troughs of social construct, social media and societal expectations….

Or worse: of waters bottled and sold from a  contaminated supply, packaged expertly as God’s truth….

When they come – I tune out the lies.

I refuse…

I will not drink the poison of these narratives that validate my womanhood only in juxtaposition with another’s manhood.

For my presence here is much too important for that.

As the last born of all created things, women truly reflect the finishing touches  of God’s handiwork.

Those without whom the Most High deemed His work was not yet done.
The missing piece in the puzzle, the creative battle not yet won.

The climax of all of His creative efforts.
Don’t you dare diminish yourself, your design; when your Creator deemed it an injustice for our world to be without your Kind.

Too brilliant an emblem of His glory for the Universe to be without you.

Too critical a reflection of His character to not form part of the revelation of who He is to His beloved, YOU are beloved, Love.
