This picture in itself is a pretty cool piece of history.
What’s , more fascinating to me is the photo/ slogan above: “ To keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done”. Sounds like a particularly British clarion call…reminiscent of British war-time slogans…” Your country needs you”…etc
It’s just interesting to see obviously British-Looking sounding and feeling propaganda and therefore such an obvious remnant if British rule (which spanned decades), not long after independence.
It is fascinating to imagine the dynamic that would have created in everyday Nigeria at the time.
Such influence is much more subtle though still undeniable now.
It is so important to remember how intimately intertwined our histories are and how long they have been this way…..
